In-Patient Care


Woking and Sam Beare Hospices exists to provide and promote the highest quality holistic care possible for people with advanced terminal illness, and to provide help and support to their families and other individuals (see Mission Statement).

There are ten beds in each of the in-patients units, which provide:

  • Specialist medical and nursing care
  • Respite care - to enable relatives and carers to have a break
  • Symptom control (including pain control)
  • Specialist physio therapy and occupational therapy
  • Psycho-social support
  • Family support through counselling and spiritual care
  • End of life - the hospices provide a high standard of care in a supportive environment
  • Close liaison with primary health care teams

The teams at the hospices support individuals and families during an emotional and difficult time whilst:

  • Promoting patients' independence and choice
  • Treating distressing physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual symptoms
  • Supporting carers and families before and during bereavement
